Society plans Irish party March 16

The Paniolo Preservation Society’s annual St. Patrick’s party fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. March 16 at Pukalani Stables in Waimea. Irish food and Irish beer, as well as other beverages, will be served. Tony Selvage will entertain on the fiddle, with Chris singing Irish pub songs and playing guitar. The event features an Irish dance and dress contest.

Tickets are available at Parker Ranch Store and Kamuela Liquor store.

Kaiser offers coping with cancer class

Registered nurse Carol Dinmore will lead an “I Can Cope Cancer Class: Learning About Cancer” from 9 to 11 a.m. March 23 in the first floor conference room at Kaiser Permanente, Kona Clinic.

Offered by Kaiser Permanente, the free lecture will focus on the basics of cancer, including diagnosis. Dinmore will also address beliefs and attitudes associated with cancer.

Adults with cancer and their family members and friends will learn how to build a support team and use available community resources. Advance registration is required; call the American Cancer Society to register at 935-0025.
